After expanding into a standard plant in Luzhu Science Park in 2019, APh ePower has been in the continuous investment of aluminum battery materials, mastering several energy-storage technologies and developing global patents. The groundbreaking ceremony of the new construction took place on the morning of December 20 (Tue.). The construction is estimated to be completed in 2025, achieving the scale of mass production of the world's first generation of commercial aluminum batteries.

Following the global trend of net zero emissions, the motorcycle industry is also facing the issue of energy transition. The "2023 EICMA," a major motorcycle event, was officially launched in Milan, Italy on November 7, during which major motorcycle manufacturers unveiled electric scooters/motorcycles and new energy technologies. Sanyang Motor Co., Ltd. (Sanyang Motor), a major motorcycle manufacturer in Taiwan, and APh ePower Co., Ltd. (APh ePower) jointly showcased the PE3, the world's first aluminum-ion battery extended range concept scooter.
The PE3 is a new generation vehicle equipped with the aluminum-ion battery developed by APh ePower. It is powered 100% by an electric motor, which charges the aluminum-ion battery, while an additional fuel engine generates electricity to continuously provide power and achieve the extended range, thoroughly resolving the greatest issue of electric scooters on the market—range anxiety.
An important condition for developing the "Aluminum-ion Range-extender Technology (ART)" is that it needs high-performance batteries. PE3 uses high-efficiency aluminum-ion batteries and has the unique advantage of fast charging and discharging, which allows it to quickly absorb the energy provided by the engine generator for instantaneous power output. It is an extended range scooter that primarily runs on electricity and uses fuel for charging.
The PE3 has a maximum range of over 300 km when it is filled with 3 liters of fuel and its battery is fully charged. The PE3 charges its battery when it is running on fuel, and then switches to pure electric mode once the batteries are fully charged. Hence, it can continue to run even if it only fills its tank without charging the batteries. It not only has a high range, but the aluminum-ion batteries are also able to withstand severe environments, whether extremely hot or extremely cold. The batteries offer high safety and stability, having passed UL safety testing, and their materials can be recycled and reused.
