TAIPEI, July 21, 2026 — APh ePower, a pioneer in advanced non-lithium battery technology, and Golden Friends Corporation (GFC, TAIEX: 4506), a leading Taiwanese elevator manufacturer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create new decarbonization pathways for green buildings.

Rethinking Vertical Mobility: Turning Regenerative Energy into Verified Emission Reductions
Elevators have long been viewed as major energy consumers in modern facilities. However, by integrating next-generation Energy Storage Systems (ESS), elevators can do more than reduce power consumption—they can generate verifiable emission reductions that may be issued as carbon credits, elevating a building's overall sustainability profile.
Combining APh ePower’s energy storage systems and its Gold Standard carbon credit methodology with GFC’s market leadership, the partnership focuses on two core initiatives:
Domestic Carbon Reduction Methodology Demonstration: The partners will jointly submit an elevator energy storage carbon reduction methodology under Taiwan’s “Ministry of Environment” (MOENV) framework. Using GFC’s Yangmei facility, the demonstration will validate operational energy savings and establish a domestic pathway for converting verified energy savings into eligible emission reductions and carbon credits.
First-of-its-Kind Gold Standard (GS) Project: Building on APh ePower’s internationally approved GS methodology, the partners will pursue project implementation at suitable GFC commercial sites.

Driving Sustainable Transformation for Smart, Low-Carbon Buildings
Outlining the broader vision and strategic implication of the collaboration, Chao-Hui Chen, Chairman of APh ePower, stated:
"APh ePower has long been dedicated to advancing energy storage technology and carbon credit methodologies. We are honored to partner with GFC, an industry leader, to establish standardized domestic rules with Taiwan’s “Ministry of Environment” for elevator carbon reduction, while simultaneously driving international Gold Standard projects to capture global carbon credit opportunities."
Bo-Lung Tang, Chairman of Golden Friends Corporation, added:
"GFC has a proud legacy in Taiwan’s elevator industry, powering iconic landmarks like Taipei 101. As global ESG and green building standards tighten, helping facilities reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints directly aligns with our long-term growth strategy. Integrating energy storage with carbon credits creates a tangible decarbonization model, and GFC’s existing sites and future projects will serve as a strong foundation for scaling smart, low-carbon architecture."
As global carbon pricing mechanisms expand, decarbonization strategies have become a priority for developers and commercial enterprises. GFC’s extensive installed base and distribution network provide an ideal platform to accelerate the commercialization of elevator energy storage. Together, APh ePower and GFC will move forward with domestic and international carbon credit initiatives and support the development of smart, low-carbon buildings.
