APh ePower, creator of the world’s first generation of commercial aluminum batteries, has reached a significant milestone by constructing its state-of-the-art aluminum battery production facility at STSP Kaohsiung Science Park (KSP). The project, set to be completed by 2025, had its structural phase initiated in late 2022 and has now reached a key stage marked by today’s beam-raising ceremony after 15 months, positioning aluminum batteries for imminent market entry and reshaping the future of energy storage technology.
APh ePower Chairman Joe Chen officiated the beam installation ceremony on April 15. Distinguished guests in attendance included Ching-Yuan Wu, Chairman of Sanyang Motor; Chun-Hui Hsieh, Chairman of CTE Tech Corp, Technical Specialist Chang of the STSP Bureau, as well as representatives from YJHW Studio and Verizon Construction & Engineering. In a symbolic gesture, gold bolts were secured on the main beam, accompanied by signatures from key stakeholders. The ceremony also featured traditional offerings and prayers, with the participation of the whole APh ePower staff members.
In his address, Chairman Joe Chen highlighted the KSP Plant's design, which spans approximately three hectares, with the first phase covering more than 40,000 square meters. The plant's architectural concept emphasizes sustainability, incorporating energy-saving measures and carbon reduction strategies from the ground up by establishing solar energy and rainwater recycling systems, aiming to achieve LEED certification of the U.S. and Taiwan's Green Building label.
The KSP Plant's construction utilizes a fully prefabricated steel structure, ensuring stringent quality control and high precision. With phased construction advancing simultaneously in multiple sections, the project has been optimized for speed and convenience. Looking ahead, the second phase will include the construction of an aluminum battery recycling facility, reinforcing the company’s core commitment to environmental protection and investment in green energy services.
Aluminum battery features distinct advantages such as rapid charge and discharge capabilities, safety, and eco-friendliness, capable of driving innovations across various sectors, including hybrid power, elevators, large-scale energy storage, and UPS systems. APh ePower's KSP Plant shall serve as the hub for aluminum battery research, development, and production, as it continues to innovate in key material development, patent acquisition, and offering carbon credits and green energy trading services to support businesses in their sustainability efforts, connecting the world from Taiwan!
